The real challenge was to get the auction cars from one state to the other with the least amount of time spent on the road. With a little careful planning we could make it through the larger cities during low traffic times obviously avoiding any rush hours along the way.

The car buyers were expecting to take possession of the auction cars at a certain date and time and we always do everything within our power to meet any deadlines and to give the customer what they are expecting to receive. This takes a lot of extra effort but it is worth it to our customers and it is worth it to us as well.

Normally you never know quite what to expect because there are so many variables and unforeseen issues that can arise when you travel across multiple states so it is always best to have extra time built into you schedule to allow for these. This scenario will play out whether we are going to a police car auction or just going to public auctions.

Some delays can include traffic jams due to road construction work being performed or even from major traffic accidents. These can cause major delays as I have witnessed several times where medical helicopters would be called in to evacuate the injured people from car accidents and the helicopter needed to land right on the highway. This is very unfortunate for the injured and thankfully they are able to be taken to the proper medical facilities for treatment as quickly as possible this way. However it can be the source a tremendous amount of time sitting idle on the highway loosing precious travel time and possibly missing out on some great auction cars, so always be prepared for situations like these although they are quite infrequent.

As far as road construction goes it is much more prevalent while traveling then major accidents are. You can almost expect to run into heavy traffic due to road construction but if you keep up on the information available to you it will help to plan your route accordingly. A police car auction as well as public auctions can draw a great deal of traffic coming from all directions as well.

When going after auction cars under value deals you should always be sure to factor in the time it takes to stop for fuel, eating, and even lodging if this is your plan. I find that it works best to have teams of 2 persons involved in traveling to pick up vehicles across multiple states. This works out well when it comes to avoiding expensive and time consuming stops at hotels and such. With two person teams one can be driving and the other can take a nap for a while. This means you are optimizing your travel time by avoiding any long term stops while out on the road.

Be sure that you have adequate maps for finding the police car auction or public auction where you will be picking up the used cars because when you are in strange area things can seem rather different surprisingly.

I have had to go into some rural areas where there simply where not any street signs up at all. Every crossroad was another wild guess it can seem like in these often frustrating situations. If you are in really remote areas then your cell phone coverage will vary unpredictably as well. Now throw this on top of everything else and things can become not only time consuming but very frustrating as well. This is another reason why getting really good directions ahead of time is worth the extra effort in planning the trip to pick up the auction cars.
