Brief Ford Mustang History
The classic Ford Mustang is considered by many car aficionados to be one of the greats in the history of the modern automobile. Ever since 1964 when the Ford Motor Company decided it was time to design a two seater modeled after the European styles of the time yet remaining respectably business like and delivering unexpected history the Mustang has delivered.
So ultimately this new design was modeled after the Falcon which was rather compact in design meaning that ultimately the production costs could remain low.
From a business stand point the fewer the materials which are needed to ultimately produce a car the less that it would cost to make it in the first place.
You still have to appreciate the fact that Ford Motor Company was a business and businesses are in existence to making money. Many of these original beauties would be made in the future and from this point on the Ford Mustang would be destined to have a place dear to the hearts of many car lovers in history possibly more than any other model made.
Overall the Mustang was considered to be a unique vehicle in its own right selling slightly over 20,000 of them on the day it was first introduced to the public as available for sale. The Mustang was no longer something that no one had heard of now and it would indeed become a literal household name in the United States.

Prior to this gorgeous 1969 Ford Mustang pictured here being made, the 1966 the Ford Mustang was modified both inside the car and under the hood as well. This marked a rather unique personality adjustment to the Mustang and at this time the option for a 4 barrel carburetor became quite popular. In those days power was how vehicles were measured and power is what the American consumer wanted no holds barred.
In 1967 many more very noticeable changes would take shape on the Ford Mustang design front including a meaner looking grill and a fastback roof line for the fastback design which ultimately became a mean looking design for the car world. Indeed the 1967 Shelby was somewhat of a more luxurious vehicle but ultimately looks and power still pushed the desire.
The 1968 Mustang brought on more changes including the 427 engine which was somewhat scaled back and then enter the 428 Cobra Jet. A convertible Mustang was also to be made available at this time as well being the Shelby Cobra which is very popular among car buffs and collectors alike today.
The late 1960's and early 1970’s Ford Mustangs saw many interesting changes and the move toward making the Shelby designs even more luxurious continued. The Boss Mustangs were introduced and were designed to be qualifiers in the NASCAR races. The days of the super performance vehicles and muscle cars were slowly coming to an end by the early 1970's and by the time the Mustang II was introduced it seems like the glory days of the Ford Mustang had seen their best days.
All good things must come to an end they say but luckily for those of us interested in old car restoration the abundance of parts etc for the older Ford Mustang muscle cars means that it may take some effort but we can ultimately get it done while paying homage to the original Ford Mustangs.
