Cars Under 1000 Values
Used car values have saved me a lot of money when I buy them for myself or for resale purposes. I mean a whole lot. This is true of a friend of mine as well. I think he was specifically looking at cars under 1000 when he was shopping around a few years back.
I believe it has been about 6 years now and his used cars value is still probably just under $1000 and it is still running just fine. He drives it back and forth to work every day and to run errands and such. This is his main transportation and it is all he really needs. This is what I call cheap, economical transportation.
It seems that the smart way to look at transportation from an economical point of view is to look at how cheap you can get it and not be so concerned about how new your vehicle really is. I mean, let someone else spend so much money per month on their transportation and I will enjoy all of the other many things I can spend my extra cash on each month.
I know some people who spend more on their car payment each month then I spend on two houses (one is a rental property). Now that is something I am not interested in at all.
Vehicles, all of them, actually depreciate in value at a fairly consistent rate. I really am not interested in spending my money on big ticket items which stand absolutely no chance of appreciating in value anywhere in the near future (sure some old cars do become valuable collectible but that appreciation can take decades).
To go along with this is the other fact that car insurance is extremely expensive to keep up on new cars. This can be a huge additional monthly bill and I just cannot see spending large amounts of money like this on something that is constantly depreciating in value.
Of course when you find used car values as often as I do on cars under 1000 dollars for example your insurance expenses are going to be extremely minimal compared to buying a new car.
A part of this low level of expense is the fact that you can comfortably buy only liability only insurance if you choose to do so. Basically why pay for full coverage on a vehicle which you only spent $500 to $1000 on the car to begin with is my logic. If you do some of the math it simply would not add up to being money very well spent at all.
Any car, new or used, will always be susceptible to unexpected repair costs but one thing about new cars is that they are generally more expensive to work on than cheap used cars are. Used cars usually have a greater abundance of used cheap parts available therefore they are more likely to be much cheaper to work on.
Some people say it feels really good knowing that they are spending a very minimal amount of their income on transportation and these folks are the ones who appreciate used car values and they may just have some extra money each week to spend on some of life’s pleasures other than driving around in a big expensive car when you go to the grocery store. Used cars under 1000 seem to get it done for many people with some extra money in their pockets.
