First Police Car Auction
It was at a police car auction and the auction cars I was interested in all looked very sharp. It did not take long to decide on the one I wanted. It had fabulous rims on new tires which had an overall custom look about them.
I could tell that the previous owner had definitely spent a good deal of money on this auction cars wheels and rims just by looking at them. There was no need to really be concerned about how much the last owner of the car had actually spent, but it did make me wonder a little bit with a smile.
I had a feeling I was going to be the winning bidder on this police car auction and walk out of there with the keys to this awesome ride. No, what I thought to myself, even better I thought – I will be driving this awesome ride out of here today. Yes, it was a good thought and I was beginning to get really excited about being here and I could not wait for the police car auction to begin.
Sure there were a lot of different seized cars that were scheduled to be auctioned off that day and the one I was after was certainly just one in the crowd. I imagined that there were other people just like me who had their eyes on a particular seized car that they knew they just had to have as well. Some of those people may have even had those feelings about the seized car I was after. I had no worries though; I would have this car I thought to myself.
I could not believe it as the police car auction bidding started. The auctioneer was calmly stating the opening price and someone in the crowd made their offer, then another person made their offer. I made my offer then another person made an offer. Every one was obviously looking for used car values.
Finally I was the only one to make another offer. I could not believe this. The price had risen to a total of just under 500 dollars. The auctioneer said sold to the… And I was in a dream.
Did I really buy this? Can people really buy cars under 500 dollars? The seized car I was so interested in was now mine. The car I could not wait to buy and own. The car I had been picturing myself driving out of here today. Yes. It was not a dream but it was reality.
I had won. The car was mine. The trip to the police car auction had turned out to be one of the most exciting experiences of my life. I do remember walking over to this little card table setup in the auditorium and writing a personal check for just under 500 dollars. I handed the check to a little old man who explained how I would be receiving the title to the car and he asked how I would like it to read. I supplied my address and other relevant information and the next thing I knew I was actually driving the car out of the police car auction large doorway in the back of the auditorium. I was driving this dream machine home.
My car may not be a dream machine to everybody. It looked sharp; it was clean and ran perfect. I could not have been happier with the whole experience at the police car auction and I wound up driving that car for the next 5 years spending next to nothing on any repairs and just gasoline and the occasional oil changes.
