We have done both buying and selling of used cars in Arkansas over a good many years so we know that the market provides many great buying opportunities in less than good economic times.

It will depend on where you are in the state as to just how the buying opportunities will be. We find that the opportunities exist in both large and small areas alike. For example used cars in Little Rock are going to be fairly abundant due to the fact that the population is significantly more than in a smaller area such as Benton, Hot Springs or Fayetteville. These days we find that the competition is often more intense in all areas as the dealers in each part of the state want your business.

This being the case you will tend to find that it is a buyer’s market in most areas right now. The competition is stiff for sellers of used cars in Arkansas these days and we have recently found several very nice used cars under 3000 dollars. The current national trend is to offer buying incentive designed to entice prospective customers into buying the used vehicle from the dealer and not from the competition. This is what works in favor of the buyer in most cases because they are going to get a better deal than they may find in better economic times when money is not as tight as it is these days.

Keep in mind that both new and used vehicles must be titled and registered in the state of Arkansas within thirty days of the transfer date to avoid any penalties. This is a fairly simple process and is typically taken care of by the dealer as a courtesy to the customer.

Additionally Arkansas law also requires that any application for vehicle title must actually be signed by the owners of the vehicle including when there is a joint ownership. In other words be sure that all owners of the motor vehicle sign the application for title in order to avoid any delays in your receiving your title.

When we have bought used cars in Arkansas we have done so at various dealers which we have done business with in the past as well as having attended numerous car auctions where we have found nearly new used cars under 10000 which we knew we could sell in our own local market.

There have been several times when we have attended used car auctions only to find that there were very few buyers in attendance. This typically would happen on bad weather days or holidays or even on special occasion days in the local area. We have seen cars under 600 dollars sell before. Of course they were not the prettiest vehicle you may have ever seen but they were capable of providing reliable transportation for many years to come at a cost of very little especially compared to newer vehicles.

We have found some great buys and the one thread which ties it all together is that even though you may not be able to always be in the right place at the right time, if you stay informed with who is having a lot sale or who is promoting any type of clearance sale then you will have a much better chance of finding that great buy on a used car in Arkansas or any other part of the nation especially in today’s economic climate.
