On all used car transactions where the vehicle is nine years old or newer it is a requirement that the seller completes an odometer statement which is located on the back side of the Iowa title. In instances where the odometer statement area is not on the back of the title the document can be obtained from the county treasurer. It is very important that the actual mileage reading is accurate.

New residents to the state must register their vehicles within thirty days of establishing residency in Iowa.
