If you look at a used car which is four years old for example and it has 120,000 miles on it then that is a very strong indicator that the car has mostly highway miles on it.

This can be good because highway miles are preferable to city miles on a used car. What it does is represent that the car was driven with more consistent RPMs on the engine which is a good thing. It also can represent that there may be far less wear and tear on other components of the vehicle. This includes things like the brakes, the struts, the steering and basically everything else along with the drive train. Not having to repair any of these items increases how under value the used car actually is when purchased. This is why so many highway miles on one of the cars under $2,000 for instance will be a good indication that the car may be worth taking a closer look at.

The main issue is that sometimes there are be too many people interested in buying them and this inevitably causes the prices to go up.
